WSMA presents a musical theatre camp taught by Missoula Children's Theatre for K-6th graders in November:
"THE JUNGLE BOOK,"
Conceived and Written by Michael McGill, Music and Lyrics by Michael McGill

Ever been abandoned in the jungle, adopted by wolves, taught by a bear, befriended by a panther and chased by a tiger? In the Missoula Children’s Theatre musical adaptation of THE JUNGLE BOOK, Mowgli the man-cub has all these adventures and more. Join him as he escapes from the Bander-log, outwits a tiger, enlists the help of a rock-python, explores what it means to be human and learns a lesson from the brave mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Original music and rollicking humor give new life to the classic tale by Rudyard Kipling.

Theatre Camp Information:

  • This camp is only for Wyoming students in Kindergarten – 6th grade.

  • This camp runs November 14-18, Monday – Thursday from 4 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. at WMS' Fay Auditorium, with a dress rehearsal Friday from 3:45-6:30. There will be two shows on Saturday, November 19 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (call time may be as early as 3:00).

  • The cost to participate is $160 per student.

  • When you register and pay for the camp, your student is guaranteed a role in “The Jungle Book”. Among the roles to be cast are Mowgli (the man-cub), Bagheera (the panther) and Akela (the leader of the pack), the entire wolf pack, Shere Khan (the tiger) with his side-kick Tabaqui (the jackal), Nag and Nagaina (the cobras), Darzee (the bird), Hathi (the master elephant), Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose), Kaa (the rock-python), Buck (a buck) and of course the Bander-log.

  • All students will audition for their individual part/role on Monday between 4 – 6 p.m. After the audition, some students will stay for rehearsal that evening and some will be finished for the day. After the students learn their roles, they will receive a rehearsal schedule for the rest of the week (Kindergarten and 1st graders will not stay past 6 p.m. on school nights). Students MUST be available for the FULL WEEK of rehearsals – they will not be excused for appointments or practices when they are called to rehearse.

  • Students do NOT have to prepare anything for the audition! The Missoula directors will ask students to act and sing various things, but no advance preparation is necessary – just bring a smile and good attitude.

Cost includes:
* A full week of rehearsals with professional directors,
* Two fully produced musical performances - with a full set and costumes from Missoula,
* Pizza dinner between the two shows on Saturday,
* Two tickets to each show (additional tickets will be available for purchase), and
